Trusting God- A June Update

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

Over the last several months, Mark and I have been working diligently on preparing our lessons for our trip to Northern Africa. I have been studying the language so that I might be able to break down barriers by providing opportunities for them to laugh at my pronunciation of their beautiful language.

Over the last 6 months, I have been battling some health issues and I went to a specialist today. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis stage 4 with leiomyoma. Just a lot of fancy words saying that my uterus is 3 times the size it’s supposed to be and I have some large fibroid tumors. My doctor recommends that I have a hysterectomy. I asked if it could be held off until after our trips to Northern Africa and Romania. Not only did he say no to waiting, he also said he wouldn’t want me flying for fear that my uterus might rupture and cause internal bleeding.

Unfortunately, that takes me (Kim) out of the Northern Africa trip. I’m devastated. One of the lessons I was preparing was talking about Biblical leadership and suffering. A quote from Warren Wiersbe I have been meditating on for weeks now seems to be ringing all the more true. “When difficulties come our way our tendency is to pray for deliverance instead of growth. We ask the Lord, “How can I get out of this?” instead of “What can I get out of this?” When we do that, we miss the opportunities God has given us to develop spiritual maturity.”

We would really love to ask you for four things to pray for:

  1. Right now I’m frustrated and discouraged. Please pray that my eyes will focus on Christ and not miss out on any opportunity for spiritual growth.

  2. Please pray they will schedule my surgery quickly so that I can recover in time for the Romania trip August 12th, and that Mark will feel comfortable to still go to Northern Africa in July.

  3. Pray for Mark and the team heading out July 21st-August 3rd to Northern Africa. Pray for effective work and many hearts to turn to Christ!

  4. Pray for a speedy recovery
